**The day a collapsing mobile address bar broke our layout.**

**Why tiny mobile quirks matter when brands are trying to find creators online**

Some people think early-stage problems are big, dramatic, platform-shaking issues.
In reality, it's usually something stupid like a browser address bar deciding to collapse at the wrong time.

While testing a core screen on mobile, we noticed something strange.
When the address bar slid away, the bottom of our layout disappeared.
Just gone.
Users had to scroll an extra bit to reach content that was supposed to be right there.

Not a huge bug.
But exactly the kind of friction that makes a tired brand manager drop off.
And exactly the kind of thing we refuse to ignore.

## **The root cause? A classic front-end cocktail of chaos**

We had a mix of px. rem. percentages.
And the troublemaker: **100vh**.

On mobile, 100vh includes the browser's UI height.
So when the browser UI changes, the layout changes too.
Suddenly your "full height" isn't actually full height.
It's full height + whatever mood the browser is in today.

Switching to **dvh** fixed everything.
dvh = _dynamic viewport height_
It reads only the usable height.
So when the address bar collapses or expands, nothing jumps.

A small fix.
A huge [difference](http://visitmela.com/).

## **Why this matters beyond tech**

These tiny UX cracks matter when you're building something like Mela.
People use us to:
- find [good designers](http://visitmela.com/)
- find [copywriters](http://visitmela.com/)
- find [editors](http://visitmela.com/)
- find [motion artists](http://visitmela.com/)
- hire [freelancers](http://visitmela.com/) without chaos

If the [platform](http://visitmela.com/) feels even slightly off,
brands don't explore,
creators don't complete profiles,
and the ecosystem suffers.

Good UX isn't a feature.
It's trust.

## **The lesson from today's bug**

Mobile responsiveness keeps breaking in new ways.
New devices. new browsers. new UI behaviors.
It's a never-ending puzzle.

But choosing the right units,
not patching with hacks,
saves hours later.

One line of code.
Zero friction.
Smoother onboarding for both creators and brands.

This is the invisible work behind building [Mela](http://visitmela.com/).
The work no one sees.
But everyone feels.
