Behance is brilliant.
But Behance was never built for brands.

Scott Belsky and his team created it to solve a very real problem creatives had back then:
_How do I organise, showcase, and monetise my work without losing my mind?_

It solved that beautifully.

But somewhere along the way, our industry forgot something important.

Behance became a playground for creatives.
Not a decision-making tool for founders.

Designers look at other designers.
Art directors look at other art directors.
Agencies stalk each other's case studies.

But brands...?
They get lost.

Because Behance speaks "creative language."
Founders speak "solve my problem" language.

And those two languages rarely match.

## **Why Behance doesn't work for brands (and it's not Behance's fault)**

A founder scrolling through [Behance](http://visitmela.com/) isn't thinking:

"Wow, great colour palette."
They're thinking:

"Will this person understand my product?"
"Did they actually do this work or just format it nicely?"
"Can they think business-first?"
"Will they survive my chaos?"
"Do they even know what execution looks like in real timelines?"

Behance shows the output.
Founders need the **context**.

Who did what.
Why it was done.
How they think.
How they collaborate.
What part of this is aesthetic and what part is actual problem-solving.

A portfolio can show taste.
It can't show mindset.

And that's where most freelance-brand mismatches happen, not because the skill isn't there, but because **the context isn't visible anywhere.**

## **This is why we're building Mela**

Not to replace Behance.
Behance is great for what it does.

[Mela](http://visitmela.com/) is solving the gap Behance was never meant to solve:

**Helping brands understand creators.
Helping creators show more than pretty pictures.
Helping both sides find the right fit faster.**

Brands don't need more designs to look at.
They need clarity.

Creators don't need another place to upload case studies.
They need a [platform](http://visitmela.com/) that shows their thinking.

[Mela](http://visitmela.com/) is a context engine.
Not a portfolio site.

It's the bridge between "nice work" and "this is the right person for my brand."

## **And where does Unpublished fit into all this?**

Unpublished exists because creators have a side that never gets seen.
The ideas that never got approved.
The bravery that never made it past the room.
The thinking that died on someone else's timeline.

If Behance shows the polished version,
[Unpublished](http://visitmela.com/unpublished) shows the _pure_ version.

No brands.
No red tape.
No budget cuts.
Just the creator's actual mind.

And for the first time,
**the world will get to judge that version too.**
Peers, real users, not just a boardroom.

The [waitlist](http://visitmela.com/unpublished) is open.
If you want the world to finally see the work that never saw daylight:
